To lose in order to find
Run, Fat boy, Run is a funny British comedy you should watch if you like romantic flicks with some thought to it. It’s very English, you know. And I must say I love English films and films about the English for their great sense of humor and really good scenarios. So what Run, Fat boy, Run is about? It might look like promotion of sport and healthy lifestyle. Well, in a way. But generally it’s a cheezy comedy about love and the long way you gotta run to win it. Dennis (Simon Pegg) is a good English guy with no great achievements; he’s just a security guard for a ladies retail store. He’s a little overweight, he smokes and drinks, his friends are losers and chumps. Dennis is in love. He’s in love with Libby (Thandie Newton), mother of his 5 – year – old son Jake (Matthew Fenton). Dennis did a horrible thing five years ago when he ran away from his pregnant fiancée because he thought he would better “ruin her big day than her life”. Just a perfect excuse for such a loser, right? Dennis is always looking for excuses not to do something right, not to finish the things he’s started. But he really loves his son and Libby. But then, oops! Seems like Libby’s new boyfriend and husband-to-be Whit (Hank Azaria) is here to completely ruin Dennis’s life. He’s so unlike the main hero. He’s handsome, he’s successful, he’s keen on jogging, and he’s American. Absolutely not like Dennis. To prove he’s no loser and he’s grown up to be a good farther and a good husband Dennis agrees to take part in London Marathon. Whit also takes part in. Some weeks of training, some pounds lost, and seems he’s ready to run! Watch the film to see what people can go for to win the game and that you never know who actually wins the game of life. The film tells us it takes one time to choose the right way to run. Guess, the flick is like “Hey, nobody’s perfect! Maybe Dennis is you?” Some critics find the film “ultimately too formulaic and predictable”, “unexceptional and useless”, some find it absolutely “amiable” to provoke some chuckles. If you like funny films with good cast, watch it on wide screen starting from March 28. Run, Fat boy, Run is a romantic comedy that affirms true love isn’t just a sprint, it’s a marathon. And by the way, remember Friends’ Ross David Schwimmer? Well, he’s the director of the flick. So it’s gotta be fun!
