Oscar winners 2011: The King’s Speech tops the list
It was a big night for The King’s Speech as the movie took home four most prestigious awards at 2011 Oscars, held on February 27 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles .
Taking home Oscar statues for the best film, best directing, best actor in a leading role and best original screenplay, The King’s Speech joined Inception and The Social Network as the movies with the most trophies won.
I’ve a feeling my career’s just peaked,” Best Actor winner Colin Firth said in his acceptance speech.
Heavily pregnant Natalie Portman couldn’t hide her tears accepting the Best Actress award for Black Swan.
I want to thank my parents,” Prtman said. “First and foremost for giving me my life. And for the opportunity to work at such a young age. [And] my beautiful love Benjamin Millepied who choreographed the film and has now given me my most important role of my life.”
The Fighter’s Christian Bale and Melissa Leo were named the best actor and actress in supporting roles. Melissa Leo has entered the Oscars Hall of Shame by dropping an F-bomb while accepting the honor. Taking the stage Christian Bale joked about his co-star’s oops moment, saying he didn’t want to use the F-word himself as he’d used it plenty of times before.
