New comedy prodigy from Britain?
Meet Ramona Marquez, a young but very talented and promising comedy star from the British sitcom Outnumbered who was honored with the Best Female Comedy Newcomer award at the prestigious British Comedy Awards. Ramona is only 8 and she’s said to write most of her own material.
In Outnumbered Ramona stars as Karen, the youngest of the three children in the family. Ramona’s two young co-stars Daniel Roche, 10, and Tyger Drew-Honey, 13, were also nominated for best male newcomer.
On the show the children’s performances are mostly improvised to make them more realistic so all the typically British humor and jokes you hear Ramona’s Karen say are mostly her own creation.
Judging by the fact that British actors are so totally IN these days (Robert Pattinson, Jude Law, Gerald Butler) Ramona Marquez is soon going to be your favorite new young star (I’m thinking kind of Abigail Breslin obsession). The Olsen twins and their good ole days humor is sooo 1990s.
