‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows P I’ will not be nominated for an Oscar in 2011

Even though Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I is a huge box office success with $220.4 million in the American box office since the release less than two weeks ago and is hailed as the best rendered film from the Harry Potter series so far, the movie is unlikely to impress critics that much to be nominated for an Oscar, movie experts say.

The Harry Potter camp is dying to see the film in the list of nominees running for the Best Picture award in 2011 but those close to the Academy say Harry Potter‘s “chances are nil.”

The chances are nil that it will win,” Sasha Stone of the Awards Daily, said. “To get nominated it would need extraordinary reviews from the critics,” Stone added noting that usual reviews are “just OK.”

Besides, according to MovieFone managing editor Patricia Chui, the Academy is not really into family-oriented movies making it even more probable Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows will not get nominated when the nominees’ list is revealed in January next year.

Nevertheless, Warner Bros, studio behind all of the Harry Potter movies, is said to be planning a massive Oscar campaign in Los Angeles, New York and London next fall for the final film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II. The likes of Sasha Stone say that the movie won’t “go unnoticed when it finally closes things down for good.”

So, all HP fans, if not this year maybe 2012 will be luckier for Harry Potter.

FYI, if Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows does get nominated for an Oscar in 2012 and if it wins, Harry Potter author JK Rowling will also win the award as she’s one of the producers of the last two installments of the world’s most successful movie franchise.
