David Fincher is in talks to direct ‘Cleopatra’ with Angelina Jolie

Are you still looking forward to seeing Angelina Jolie play Cleopatra? Then I’ve got good news for you – after James Cameron’s decision to back out of the project, the historical movie seems to have found a new director – The Social Network’s helmer David Fincher!

According to new reports, David is planning to start work on the movie as soon as he’s done with his latest project, The Girl Who Played With Fire, sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

No official confirmation has so far been released. (I keep my fingers crossed the movie sees the light, you?)

The first reports about Angelina Jolie-starring Cleopatra surfaced in October 2010. That time it was revealed that James Cameron was going to make a 3D flick based on Stacy Schiff’s book Cleopatra: A Life. Jolie was reportedly cast as Cleopatra, and the historical film was to explore Cleopatra’s lethal political struggle with her brother, her romance with Julius Caesar, the nine-year affair with Mark Antony and her demise.
