British model Lydia Hearst will play Lindsay Lohan in new comedy

British model Lydia Hearst is cast to play Lindsay Lohan-like character in Dogs In Pocketbooks, a new satire movie about obsession with modern celebrity.

According to the movie’s screenwriter Charles Castillo, Lydia is the perfect pick of an actress for the role as she’s “one of the few supermodels who can actually act.”

In Dogs In Pocketbooks, Lydia will play “a bratty movie goddess in and out of rehab, in trouble with the law, and hounded by greedy agents, predatory paparazzi, stalkers and crazed media – a role obviously based on Lindsay,” according to Castillo.

Lydia Hearst, 26, who’s described as “smart, well read, charming and very beautiful”, even looks a little bit like Lindsay. Crazy!

If you think the new movie just wants to make fun of Lindsay Lohan (think Glee‘s episode starring Gwyneth Paltrow), it’s absolutely not the case this time.

[The movie] is in no way mean-spirited towards Lindsay,” Charles Castillo said. “It’s the kind of thing she has spoofed about herself in the past. It’s more of a satire about the crazy people around her and the situations they generate. It satirizes the obsession with modern celebrity.”

Lydia Hearst will start shooting Dogs In Pocketbooks in February 2011. The film will also star Joan Collins as “an aggressive, sexy, powerful” Hollywood agent who struggles to find work for Lydia’s character due to her stints in rehab and scandals with media.
