Abraham Lincoln movie gets a vampire twist

Forget Twilight, historical movies get vampire-ish, too!

According to FOX, they’ve acquired rights to adapt Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and turn it into a movie, allegedly set for release in 2012.

The movie’s going to get 3D treatment and be directed by Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov, who will also produce alongside Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. The novel’s author Seth Grahame-Smith is hired to write the screenplay.

No word about who’s going to star in the movie but the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter flick definitely embraces the current obsession with vampires. In the movie US president Abraham Lincoln “learns that his mother was killed by a supernatural predator. Taking revenge, Lincoln becomes an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires and their slave-owning allies.”

Sounds absolutely hilarious!
