Twilight’s Bella & Jacob’re most popular names 2009

Twilight mania is unable to stop! According to the Social Security Administration, names of the main Twilight Saga characters, Isabella Swan and Jacob Black top last year’s list of most popular baby names in the States.

Got to note though that ‘Jacob’ has been holding onto the top boy name for the 11th year in a row, while ‘Isabella’ is indeed a new name in the top ten most popular.

According to SSA, the name ‘Cullen’ (as in Edward Cullen) had the biggest increase in popularity in 2009 moving up 297 spots. ‘Edward’, in its turn, moved up 11 spots.

Also, such names as ‘Malia’ (as in Malia Obama) and ‘Isla’ (as in Isla Fisher) became the fastest risers on the girl’s side.

Meanwhile, such names as ‘Miley’ (as in Miley Cyrus), ‘Lindsay’ (as in Lindsay Lohan) and ‘Jonas’ (as in Jonas Brothers) are among the largest decreases.
