The parade of luxury. Elie Saab
This is my most favorable evening gowns designer ever. Elie Saab is the man whose dress I would love to wear to an extremely lavish date in some Middle Eastern palace and … actually I would love to be taken to a dinner by him. He is such a man! His grayish hair, his years only adorn him. This lebanese designer is a synonym to luxury and modernity.
In Paris on July, 2nd I once again fell in love with his works. Remember his Spring/Summer 2008 collection? Well, his Fall 2008 is nothing less than breathtaking. There were and there are debates about the new wave of more casual haute couture, but whatever the opinions are, we all admit it is beautiful and it is that one designer a princess would go to!
Elie Saab was an indie designer, but his first big scene statement was marked in 2002 at the Oscar ceremony. It was Halle Berry shining in his gown. This designer knows how to make a gown be worthy of a Queen.
Dozen meters of ruffles made of taffeta and georgette, and those pleating and one shoulder detail. Even Galliano hasn’t gotten there this Paris Fashion Week. Saab is fresher and more luxurious, yet keeps royal elegance.
Michelangelo provided him with a color chart vaguely matched to the blues and browns of Renaissance art, one print of clouds and cerulean sky, and an excuse for letting loose with extravagant flourishes of drapery.”
– says Sarah Mower of Style.com
Bunchy jutting bustier, fabric rosettes, and floor-sweeping chiffon skirts – those silhouettes made the runway the biggest parade of gowns. Elie Saab is a fashion history with his greatest works he made it to an icon.
