5 Grammys dresses you’ll never forget
We start the 2009 Grammy Awards countdown, guys! It’s just five days left before we enjoy the main music show of the year, so it’s time we checked out Grammy Awards fashion. Can you predict who’ll surprise us at this year’s show? Whose outfit will be most memorable? Horrible? Glamorous? I hope Katy Perry will do something to stun us, after all, she likes to “keep people on their toes,” right?
Anyways, before you get down to 2009 Grammy Awards fashion countdown, here’s something to refresh your memory. Here are 5 Grammys dresses you will never never forget. Hot or not, you decide, but they’ve already made history.
5. Grace Jones, 1983
This woman is one of the most extravagant I can recall. Her love of unusual outfits is never dying. When did it all start? I don’t know maybe sometime around 1983 when she presented a Grammy at the 25th Annual Grammy Awards.
It was one of the most futuristic ensembles ever!
I’ve always been a rebel,” the model and singer has said. “I never do things the way they’re supposed to be done.”
4. Beyoncé Knowles, 2008
Simply gorgeous! Beyoncé Knowles’ yellow dress with the ultra-low-back for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was a showstopper. The back view is a killer, right?
3. Harvey Fierstein, 2003
I know it’s kind of surprising to see a man on the dress list but I think the outfit he wore to the 45th Grammy Awards deserves being mentioned here. It’s surely something we can’t forget. Fierstein dressed up as his character from Broadway show Hairspray. It was another hilarious and very original performance of his!
2. Toni Braxton, 2001
Wow, what was she thinking about? Toni, then 40, surely wanted to balance sexy and provocative but her Richard Tyler white dress exposed too much of her body, don’t you think?
I’ve always gone a little risque with all my other awards [show outfits],” the singer explained. “I decided that before I got married and had babies, I’d wear this.”
1. Jennifer Lopez, 2000
It’s been 9 years since we saw J Lo go on stage hand in hand with David Duchovny wearing Donatella Versace’s $15,000 palm-print sheer silk chiffon dress. She turned heads! I bet everyone was on the edge of their sit to catch a moment when her dress exposed a little bit too much of her breasts. But it never happened due to special glue the singer used.
I had to have it,” Lopez said about the dress, adding later that “those fashion moments happen by mistake – you can’t plan things like that.”
Can’t wait to see dresses on the 2009 Grammys redcarpet. Maybe they’ll also make history. I’m sure they will.
Stay tuned to learn more!
