Wrong award for Katy Perry
Well, s**t happens.
It must be really sad when you get an award… and it’s suddenly taken away from you. Single and happy Katy Perry attended the French NRJ Music Awards on Saturday night in Cannes to perform her hits ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and ‘Hot N Cold’ as well as to receive a couple of awards. She was nominated for Best International Album for One Of The Boys and Best International Song for ‘I Kissed A Girl.’
Katy, 24, won in both categories looking blissfully happy to add two more awards to her growing collection … but by the end of the ceremony the host announced that Perry did not win the International Song, Rihanna’s ‘Distorbia’ did instead.
We are terribly sorry, but we made a mistake. It wasn’t Katy Perry who was supposed to pick up the Best International Song, but Rihanna with Disturbia,” the host said. “We hope Rihanna and Katy Perry won’t be too upset and we apologize for all the fans who voted for them. The wrong name was put in the envelope. We’re really terribly sorry. Katy Perry will have to give her (award) to Rihanna.”
I know how sad and disappointed Katy was. I remember when I was 10 I found a very beautiful doll in the closet and thought it was my birthday present, but it was for my cousin Ellie who was 5. I was devastated for another couple of hours, I guess. Did Katy feel the same?

They shouldn’t have announced that at all! If I was Rihanna, I would’ve done the selfless thing and said, “Katy deserves this award more anyway” cuz not only would that generate more news and popularity, but it’s the kind thing to do.
