Adele: ‘I’m Proud of Being Fat’
Just a day after Karl Lagerfeld’s controversial comments about her weight made headlines around the world, Adele has come out fighting. The singer has stated that she is ‘proud’ of herself, her body and her image all in all as a representative of real women and that she’s never wanted to look like Lagerfeld’s models walking down his catwalks. In an interview with People magazine, the 23-year-old says:
I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”
Now it appeared that Lagerfeld appeared had been attempting to compliment Adele during an interview with Paris newspaper Metro this week, but he managed to offend instead. When asked for his thoughts on contemporary women pop stars, he said:
The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
Moreover, the 78-year-old fashion mogul added that the Royal Family were ‘totally unnecessary, but pleasant’. He also lebelled Russian men ‘ugly’ and said Greeks and Italians have ‘disgusting habits.’
The ‘fat’ comments by Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel, have made Karl bite the dust. Curves and Chaos, an LA-based blog for full figured women, wrote:
Are you freaking kidding me? We’re done with him and Chanel as long as he’s involved with them.”
American PR guru Kelly Cutrone added:
If you love Adele then boycott Chanel .”
Adele’s spokesman declined to comment on Lagerfeld’s remarks while Adele insists she is not obsessed with her big physique or trying to lose weight. She said last year:
I enjoy being me; I always have done. I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, you know, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears them down. And I just don’t want that in my life. It’s just never been an issue – at least, I’ve never hung out with the sort of horrible people who make it an issue. I have insecurities of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”
Meanwhile Karl has returned to the scene of the crime, Metro, and said that his comment was taken out of context:
I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. What I said was in relation to Lana Del Rey and the sentence has since been taken out of context from how it was originally published. I actually prefer Adele, she is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her. I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean to you in regards to your appearance. Adele is a beautiful girl. She is the best. And I can’t wait for her next CD.”
It always amazes me how furious people become if anyone dares to suggest publicly that someone is overweight while everyone is happy to criticize girls for being too thin claiming its not healthy (which is not). And why did they suppose that one can’t criticize girls for being overweight which isn’t healthy either! I’m not saying what he said was nice but it is true that being over weight is not healthy. Adele is really a litle fat,but she is beautiful and has a great voice. And Karl didn’t say she was ugly or a horrible person or untalentedв
P.S. Women come in all shapes and sizes so stop saying that fat describes “real women” and really thin girls aren’t “real”. I think we all need to shut the hell up about size be it too fat or too skinny. That’s enough!

Why? Why be proud of excess body fat?
