First Listen: Selena Gomez ‘Whiplash’ written by Britney Spears

It’s here! The song co-written by Britney Spears and recorded by Selena Gomez and The Scene has become available for listen online. The track titled ‘Whiplash’ will be featured on Selena’s new album When The Sun Goes Down, out June 28.

The first reports of the unlikely collaboration surfaced back in April this year. Unlike my previous assumptions that Britney had written the song for Selena Gomez just because Selena was a big fan of hers, turns out ‘Whiplash’ just wasn’t chosen for Brit’s Femme Fatale so the song was given to Gomez.

The song sounds ok to me but Britney’s influence is obvious. It even seems that Selena is copying the singer at some points.

‘Whiplash’ is the first song Britney Spears has “given” to a fellow singer. It’s also one of the 20 songs Spears has co-written in thirteen years of her career.
