Trendy haircuts & hair styles 2010
New year, new hair
Before I start with the haircut trends 2010 I gotta say I expected so much more of them – more originality, novelty and extreme. They’re less diverse than last year’s but still pretty similar to what we’ve already seen before.
Yet, hair experts say diversity is the key to a trendy look in 2010.
Diversity is the key thing for 2010,” Damien Carney from Artistic Director of Joico Laboratories, said. “There will always be people who like long hair and those who like short hair, so cuts and styles will be adapted to the individual. Everything is a strong look that makes a big statement.”
Thinking about trendy hair styles this year think about both diversity and versatility:
Cuts that allow styles to be easily maintained and yet allow maximum flexibility will be popular,” Lois Sonstegard of Whirl-a-Style suggested. “Classic looks will have a new twist – a little fanciful touch added to make the style understated at times, and bold at others. Hair will be more purposeful and put together. This isn’t the time to arrive at an event looking like you just rolled out of bed.”
Looks like you have more options this year!
Back to the trends.
Just like last year, long hair is really huge in 2010. Think Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift when picking your new long hair cut as they’re both predicted to be the hugest celebrity influence in hair styles this year.
While long hair is the top pick, short hair is still popular. Most of the popular short styles are androgynous and can work for both men and women. Bobs and pixies still rock with bobs getting more structured with shorter bangs tracing the brow.
Whether you go long or short, go natural in what refers to textures and colors.
80s are pretty influential, as well.
Think big hair. Go for hair spray, big ponytails, crinkles, crimps and tight curls.
Think shaved hairstyles ala Rihanna and Cassie. Wear your shaven hair styles in the form of mohawks, half shaved styles, or designs shaved in the back of the hair.
Another retro style that remains strong is wavy styles.
Hollywood’s hot new trend,” says L&S. “A-List stars are ditching their curling irons for easy-to-use rollers. The result? Bouncy, sexy tresses!”
Think Kim Kardashian, Jenny McCarthy or Rachel McAdams as your celebrity wavy hairstyle inspiration.
Another big hair trend is wearing your hair pulled back or pulled up and tied in tight buns just like runway shows suggest.
And finally, fringe. Whether you go sweeping and sexy or short and rounded, you go fashionable. Regardless of the length go for soft and beautiful styles.
