Spring/ Summer 2011 must-have – trench coat

Some fashion trends never get outdates, like the trench coat. In Spring/ Summer 2011 fashion trench coats play an important role of both a piece of outerwear and a means of fashion statement.

What I love about trench coats is that they’re quite universal – you can wear a trench coat with military boots and look great, then get glamed up for a night out with friends, wear the same trench coat and again look fresh, elegant and feminine. So I’m absolutely happy that in this season designers share my passion for trench coats providing a variety of styles and looks to choose from.

Trench coat trends for Spring/ Summer 2011 say that in this season you can be free to choose a trench coat color you like best – let it be classic black, refreshing white, a delicate pastel, or a burst of color.

Freedom of choice is also seen in the variety of designs – trench coats come in long, short, or middle length with military-inspired detailing, statement necklines and assymentric hems, draping and ruffles, full sleeves and cropped sleeves, buckles, epaulettes and buttons.

I’m a huge fan of trench coats and one of the most amazing things for me this season is the so called deconstructed trench coats, like these by AllSaints Spitalfield. I love the asymmetric design of the hem, the statement neckline and assymentric fastening.

Another wonderful thing about deconstructed trench coats is that they have a military feel about them but have the overall feminine look making it possible to pair such outerwear with practically any outfit.

In case you’re not really into trench coats, then you can remain fashion-forward with never aging leather jackets (biker leather jackets are huge in Spring/Summer 2011!)
