People’s Choice Awards 2012 Winners
The 2012 People’s Choice Awards was held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 in Los Angeles. Though some music’s biggest stars were absent at the show, it looked like a kaleidoscope of the most desired actors and actresses, singers, and TV celebrities. People’s Choice Awards 2012 actually is believed to indicate future Grammy winners and featured nominees such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. As mentioned quite a few artists attended the show – including winners Demi Lovato and Maroon 5. Demi wowed the crowd with powerhouse performances. People’s Choice Awards 2012 was hosted by The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco and in between costume changes and witty jokes, she managed to host a night that combined pop culture’s love for TV, movies and music. Airing live from Los Angeles, the show was full of funny moments, as well as frequent references to funny folks like Neil Patrick Harris and Betty White, who even got a kiss from Don Cheadle.
The first People’s Choice Award of the evening went to Emma Stone, who managed to win over mega-actresses as Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Anne Hathaway for Favorite Movie Actress. Emma, who also took home the prize for Favorite Comedic Actress, had a kinda advice for her fans. She said:
The biggest thing I learned was that you have to stay true to yourself and don’t be afraid, even though people might say that what you’re doing isn’t right….There’s no other reason I’m up here today.”
Sharon Osborn and Jesse Tyler Ferguson presented the award for Favorite Daytime TV Host, which went to Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen, who topped fellow nominees Regis Philbin, The Today Show hosts, Anderson Cooper, and Rachael Ray, accepted the award saying:
This all belongs to the peoples because peoples have chosen me. …It never gets old.”
Favorite Pop Artist winner Demi Lovato stunned in red while performing Give your Heart a Break. Following the performance, she was presented with the coveted Waterford crystal statue. Demi said:
I won this because of my fans and I dedicate this to you guys!”
Without you guys tweeting so many times, I wouldn’t be up here. I love you guys. You guys are amazing!”
Upon winning at Favorite Movie Star Under 25 nomination over Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, Chloe Grace Moretz said:
I can’t believe I’m up against the whole Harry Potter cast and I won!”
Favorite Band went to Maroon 5 in a victory over Red Hot Chille Peppers, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, and Coldplay. The group’s leader Adam Levine accepted the honor saying:
We’ve got the greatest fans on earth!”
Katy Perry,who was absent at the show due to her split with husband Russell Brand, actually gathered the most awards for the evening. Katy won in five categories including Favorite Female Artist, Tour Headliner, Song of the Year for E.T with Kanye West, Music Video for Last Friday Night, and TV Guest Star for How I Met Your Mother.
Double congrats for Nina Dobrev who looked stunning on the red carpet and snagged the Favorite TV Drama Actress award for her dual portrayal of Katherine and Elena in Vampire Diaries.
Actor Nathan Fillion won in Favorite TV Drama Actor nomiantion for Castle.
Newly bald Robert Pattinson accepted an award for Favorite Drama Movie for Water for Elephants.
Neil Patrick Harris won in TV comedy actor nomination.
