Miley is out, MJ is in
Sad news for Miley Cyrus camp. The 17 year old singer/actress and her song ‘The Climb’was “disqualified” and removed from the 2010 Grammy Awards nominations list.
According to the sources, the Hannah Montana soundtrack that had previously been listed in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category was replaced by ‘All Is Love’ from the soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are.
The movie’s director Spike Jonze explained the situation:
In an unexpected twist, one of the announced Grammy candidates for Best Song written for a Soundtrack has been disqualified after the fact (Miley Cyrus in fact). The nomination then goes to the song with the next-highest initial vote count, which is Karen O and the Kids’ ‘All is Love’.”
Another possible explanation for such disqualification is that ‘The Climb’ wasn’t specially written for the movie, the fact that makes the song ineligible for the award. On the other hand, Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs penned the song specially for the movie in the Grammys race.
Sorry Miley!
While Miley is out, Michael Jackson that wasn’t initially included in the list, is announced to receive a special Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be given during the invite-only ceremony on January 30, 2010, a day before the 2010 Grammy Awards.
