Grammy Awards 2012 Nominees Announced
The 54th Grammy Awards is to be held on February, 12 and broadcast on CBS. Last night, during the Grammy Nomination Concert Live the names of nominees of the most blue-chip award among musicians have been announced. Just like the last year, a hip-hop artist is leading the list of Grammy 2012 nominees: this year Kanye West walked away with a leading seven (!) nods, following the hip-hop record made by last year’s leading nominee, Eminem. He’s nominated for his Watch the Throne joint album with Jay-Z and also gained a few nominations as Song of the Year for his extremely combined track All of the Lights, which involved Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi. Moreover, Kanye is even nominated against himself, with Watch the Throne and his own My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy for Rap Album of the Year nods.
Next record-holder are Adele, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars who got six nods each. Lil Wayne and dance-music breakthrough Skrillex each collected five nods. What’s notable is that this year’s nominees are remarkably young, with 34-year-old West as the eldest nominee, and Adele (23), Rihanna (23), Lady Gaga (25) and Bruno Mars (26).
