Barbie’s an example of an ideal woman for little girls, she’s a doll fashion icon, she’s a successful woman, and she’s actually a very well groomed and good looking for her age 50 lady. That’s right, Barbie is turning 50 next year.
To celebrate the event toy company Mattel, who have been producing Barbie dolls for half a century reported they have grand plans to mark the doll’s b-day. The company is teaming up with such fashion designers like Vera Wang, Jeremy Scott and Diane Von Furstenberg to create a fashion and cosmetics brand. Vera Wang should design a collection for Barbie`s wedding, Marc Jacobs a collection for business Barbie, while Diane von Furstenberg should design a collection of spring dresses, according to the source.
It was also reported, the designers will create life sized outfits reflecting Barbie’s lifestyle to present at New York’s fashion week next February.
The new Barbie collection will go on sale internationally next year alongside Barbie make-up for women range with products entitled “All Dolled Up,” “Plastic Smooth,” etc.
Think Barbie can also team up with Mickey Mouse that turned 80 November, 18. Why not create a menswear line including bright colored shorts, funky ties and fab tuxedos?
