American Music Awards 2008

Sunday night’s 36th Annual American Music Awards event featured some incredible power. Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé Knowles, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Annie Lennox, Kanye West, Jonas Brothers, and others.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the AMA 2008 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, joked recapping musician headlines from the year:

Christina Aguilera had a baby … Mariah Carey married one.”

Mariah was escorted on stage by her toy-boy husband Nick Cannon to perform ‘I stay in Love’ and Terrence Howard presented her with an AMA for breaking records in music.

Kanye West accepted the award for Rap/Hip Hop Album, to what he said:

I wake up in the morning thinking about what stereotypes I wanna break. I wanna be Elvis…

I want to give this award to Wayne,” he said. “If it was last year it would have been my award.” “

Annie Lennox received the Award of Merit by surprise guest – Justin Timberlake!

Miley Cyrus decided to kill the two rabbits. She celebrated her 16th birthday and entered the stage driving a car!

Rihanna went up to the podium twice, winning awards for favorite Soul R&B Female and Pop/Rock Female.

The coveted Artist of the Year award was presented to her bf Chris Brown to what he replied:

I don’t know what to say. I would have given it to Coldplay.”

The star studded list of performers included: New Kids on the Block, Pink, Taylor Swift, The Fray, Beyoncé Knowles, Coldplay, Jonas Brothers and more!
