Shakira, fiance Antonio De La Rua split after 11 years together

While we thought there were soon to be wedding bells for singer Shakira and her long time love Antonio De La Rua, turns out the couple have separated after as many as 11 years together.

Shakira said they split in August 2010 but have been keeping the matter private until now. The separation was mutual. Shakira and Antonio remain close friends and business partners.

Also, the Colombian hottie doesn’t rule out the possibility of going back together in the nearest future after both of them are ready to do it.

Shakira said the following in her message on the official website:

Since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship. Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now. We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives,” Shakira wrote.
