Elton John is a daddy!
Elton John and his husband David Furnish are proud parents of a baby boy born on Christmas Day via a surrogate mother.
Elton and David released a joint statement via US Weekly saying they were very happy to welcome their son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John to the world:
We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” the new parents said. “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”
Zackary Furnish-John, born on December 25th in California, is the first child of the couple who’ve been married for five years.
Before having a child via a surrogate, Elton John, 62, and David Furnish, 48, tried to adopt a boy named Lev from the Ukraine, but the authorizes blocked them from adoption as same-sex marriages were illegal in the country.
In their statement, Elton and David also said they were going to respect the privacy of their surrogate mother and had no intention to disclose any details of the surrogacy agreement.
Congrats to the happy parents!
