Young Designer Claims Nicki Minaj Copied Her Designs For That Colorful Top
Nicki Minaj is in the middle of controversy for her Fashion Week outfit, but not because it’s crazy but because a young design Julia Rogers claims the singer copied her designs that reflected in that colorful top she wore for Carolina Herrera fashion show. Rogers told Fashionista that she has been producing these designs for three years and has even got in contact with Minaj‘s stylist about her creations. Rogers even sent them the photos but never heard from the team again.
Of course Rogers saw the photos of Minaj in that top and knew her idea was stolen.
When I saw the photos I was in tears.
I came up with the term “Puff Balls”.
Minaj not only wore a copy of Rogers designs, she also described her top as “Puff Ball” top.
While there are opinions that one cannot claim copyright to pom poms Nicki Minaj‘s top and use of those fluffy little spheres are still pretty similar to Rogers’ designs. Besides the designer did send photos of her clothing to Minaj‘s not-so-creative team.
I guess it’s nothing new in the world of fashion. Independent designers and artists are always taken advantage of. Besides pom poms are really a universal thing but it still doesn’t justify stealing, copying and whatnot. Minaj‘s could easily buy those garments directly from the designer’s label SomedayNewYorker or order a customized garment. The only good thing that came out of it all is that Rogers is getting attention and publicity anyway. Hail the Internet! Read the full story at Fashionista.
Say, what do you think about Puff Ball clothing?
