Top 10 searches 2008
December is slowly coming to an end, so is the year. In short, it’s time to sum up what we’ve all achieved this year.
You know how much I love all this top 10-something stuff. Yahoo has presented its Top 10 Searches for 2008, and guess who tops the list? It’s greatest comeback artist of the year, Britney Spears!
According to the source, her “steep trajectory to redemption” restored her to the top. Her turbulent year of police visits, suicide attempts, custody battles, financial conservation, getting back with her ex producer, new album and smashing single, great comeback at MTV Video Music Awards, revealing it all documentary and plans for the world tour next year surely attracted a lot of public attention. Britney is officially back!
World Wrestling Entertainment holds the second spot produced more events, video games, and movies this year.
Not surprising, President-elect Barack Obama is on the list too. It’s nice to know he’s in top 3. His wise and inspiring political campaign won our hearts and generated an unprecedented search surge.
Disney star Miley Cyrus is a real celebrity breakthrough act this year. She’s now associated not only with her Hannah Montana character of the eponymous series but is a comparatively successful teen singer, paps’ favorite and scandal maker. Surely her Vanity Fair almost-nude-photoshoot helped her reach # 4 spot on the top searches list this year.
No. 5 is RuneScape, the multi-player role-playing game.
Sin City and Campari campaign star Jessica Alba has achieved a lot this year – she got married, gave birth to daughter, earned Best Movie Actress at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and got her pre-pregnancy body so fast we didn’ even have enough time to miss it. Guess all the foresaid made her no. 6 of the most searched.
Alba is followed by the Web’s most popular fictional character Naruto Uzumaki.
Lindsay Lohan comes 8th. Well, it was a very strange year for the young actress, the year of revelation, I’d say. This year she’s finally realized she’s gay. At least that’s the most memorable thing about Lindsay for me.
It’s kind of weird that one of the Hollywood’s hottest and most beautiful actresses, mother of six, and partner of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, couldn’t make it to the very top of the list. Nevertheless, she’s the Hollywood’s highest paid actress, she’s no. 24 on the Power Women 100 list, she has made really cool films this year and she’s earned $14m for her twins’ first pics. Angelina Jolie is still the best! And she’s no. 9 on Yahoo’s list.

And finally, it’s American idol. I wonder what’s more attracting about the show – the contestants or the judges… However, the show still manages to draw significant search attention.
