Ronaldo proves he is the best
We haven’t heard of sweetheart Cristiano Ronaldo for a pretty while. And it’s good news for all his devoted fans (including me, of course), Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) award given by France Football magazine to the outstanding player in world football.
Congrats!
Ronaldo polled 446 points from a maximum 480 in the vote by 96 European journalists, well ahead of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi (281) and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres (179). This way Cristiano succeeded last year’s winner AC Milan’s Kaka.
It is one of the most beautiful days of my life – this is something I dreamed of as a child,” Cristiano told France Football.
This award makes Ronaldo the third Portuguese player to win the award originally known as the European Footballer of the Year award but now expanded to include players from around the globe.
I am only 23 years old and it is splendid, incredible,” he said in his speech.
Previously Ronaldo had already been named world player of the year by FIFPro, and won the domestic Professional Footballers Association and the Football Writers awards last season.
He’s as talented as handsome. Love him!
