Posthumous Oscar for Ledger
The first The Dark Knight reviews hail Heath Ledger’s performance of the Joker as Oscar-worthy, according to UsMagazine.
“I can only speak superlatives of Ledger, who is mad-crazy-blazing brilliant as the Joker,” Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers writes. “Ledger’s Joker has no gray areas — he’s all rampaging id. He creates a Joker for the ages,” the critic added.
According to Travers, Ledger’s performance deserves an Oscar nomination.
“If there’s a movement to get him the first posthumous Oscar since Peter Finch won for 1976’s Network, sign me up,” he writes.
If bloggers can do anything to help Ledger get this Oscar nomination, sigh me in too! He was a really gifted actor who deserved to become part of the Oscar history.
Heath Ledger died at age 28 of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January this year. His last film The Dark Knight premieres on July 18. Stay tuned to learn more about it.
