Miranda Kerr: “I’m not thin!”
Editors at Grazia Magazine had no idea the cover shoot for their latest issue would cause such a wave of worldwide controversy over Miranda Kerr’s body and its size.
While some mags described Victoria’s Secret Aussie angel as “shockingly thin” and “virtually unrecognizable” in the photos, the model, 26, claims she’s not on any crazy super model diet and actually hasn’t lost a pound in the last three years:
I am conscious of not only maintaining but promoting a healthy lifestyle and I wouldn’t be able to sustain the hectic nature of my modeling commitments if I wasn’t 100 per cent committed to feeding my body the food, vitamins and minerals it needs,” Miranda told Grazia blaming the exaggerated poses for making her look visibly thinner. “The poses for the shoot have made me appear thinner than normal from behind, but I am the same weight and measurements I have maintained for more than three years.”
I like the shoot. She looks ethereally beautiful in the photos posing on the roof of a Sydney skyscraper, donning a polka-dot bikini, two navy blue one-pieces and a Speedo bodyskin.
Miranda says her hectic working schedule does not let her gain extra body fat. Besides, being constantly on the plane and carrying around a lot of luggage is a good alternative for cardio.
I work six days a week, 15 hours a day – and that’s not a joke,” she said. “I’m generally in two different countries a week. And anyone else who had my schedule would probably fall apart. To be honest with you, it’s really, really intense. People don’t realize the extent of how hard I work, because they see it as just glitz and glamour. At the same time I am so grateful for it all, but it doesn’t give me a lot of downtime…”
Finding herself in the midst off the body size controversy Miranda still claims her aim is to encourage people to take their bodies as they are, as nobody is perfect.
That’s what I’m passionate about – trying to encourage young women to embrace themselves – especially because I am in the fashion world and I really don’t want girls to think they have to look like me. I want them to nurture themselves and really be the best they can be,” Kerr said. “Every day I am changing and growing and nobody’s perfect. We all have our insecurities. That’s normal.”
Oh, I’m relieved to hear that from the 10th highest grossing model in the fashion world.
