Katy Perry designs for H&M to battle AIDS

Katy Perry joined the host of other stars in hope to help battle AIDS and raise youth awareness with her fashion designs.

Katy Perry, burlesque queen Dita Von Teese, singer Estelle, guys from N.E.R.D., 1980s star Cyndi Lauper, Moby, Tokio Hotel, Yoko Ono and others took part in the Fashion Against AIDS campaign launched by high street store H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA).

H&M is overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and commitment from each and every celebrity involved in this collection,” an H&M spokesperson said.

N.E.R.D., which features Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, designed tees to encourage men to use their brain when it comes to safe sex.

Estelle’s t-shirt reads: “Life is too short… have sex… be safe.”

I definitely like Lauper’s t-shirt design that features a lipstick in the bottom and words written by it above: “Girls just wanna have safe sex” that’s basically a play on her most popular song (and the only song of hers I know) ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.’

Dita Von Teese created a pretty demure tee with a woman’s face image on it. Kind of cute. According to Teese, if people purchase these t-shirts, they can make a huge difference in this pandemic, while also looking chic.

Katy Perry designed a figure-hugging bodysuit with a smiley face inside a love heart and the digestive system below it. Odd but lovely. “It’s what’s on the outside that counts,” Katy’s safe sex message reads.

Celebs will collaborate with H & M on designs for T-shirts, T-shirt dresses, vests and bodies. 25% of the sales price will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects. The 100% organic cotton collection for both guys and girls will be on sale in H&M’s youth DIVIDED department from May 28 2009.
