Kate Winslet is now $40,000 richer

The British publication The Daily Mail must be beyond pity and sorrow over losing the lawsuit at London’s High Court yesterday and now paying Oscar-winner Kate Winslet $40,000 in libel damages.

Earlier this year Kate filed legal papers against the publication over their January article entitled “Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the world’s most irritating actress?”

Winslet claims she was “hurt and embarrassed” because The Daily Mail lied about her exercise regime using a quote from her interview for Elle Magazine and called her the most irritating actress in the world.

I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise,” Kate said in her statement. “I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy.”

Whatever, Kate is now $40,000 richer, cograts to her.
