Gisele Bundchen covers ELLE, helps Africa

Gisele Bundchen has been a long time supporter of (RED) that’s founded by Bono of U2 and American philanthropist Bobby Shriver. (RED) is an international brand funding medicine for AIDS victims.

To help reach people and promote the (RED) products, the world’s richest supermodel has teamed up with ELLE. Her pics are featured in more than 30 international editions of the magazine with estimated 20 million readers to check them out worldwide.

I grew up in a country strongly affected by poverty. The face of suffering isn’t an abstract thing for me and I’ve always said to myself that, if I could do something to help, I would,” Gisele said. “Follow your instincts and your heart: if you are able to buy and help others at the same time, why deny yourself the pleasure?”

In the photos Bundchen wears and poses with products from companies who support the same cause: American Express, Converse, Gap, Apple and Armani, and others.

Fifty percent of all profits go towards helping the HIV and AIDS epidemic, while forty cents a day translates to the two antiretroviral pills needed to survive. According to (RED), the fundraising charity has already helped 2.5 million people.

Gisele Bundchen isn’t the only celeb who supports the initiative. Scarlett Johansson, Julia Roberts, and of course, Bono are also on the list.

ELLE’s (RED) issue includes Johansson’s interview about her trip to Rwanda, as well as a letter from Bono about the problem of AIDS in Africa.
