David Beckham is too old for soccer

Retirement age at 35? That must be too soon and a way too unexpected for former England captain David Beckham!

England coach Fabio Capello told about his decision not to pick David to play for England in upcoming games saying young players should step forward, thus, meaning, that Beckham should step aside.

David is a fantastic player but I think we need new players for the future,” Fabio Capello said in his interview. “If he is fit, I hope we will play one more game here at Wembley so the fans can say goodbye.”

Meanwhile, David Beckham is back to training in LA after the unfortunate Achilles
tendon injury in March this year.

David’s reaction to Capello’s words could be easily predicted and expected:

I’m not ready to step aside,” David Beckham said. “If I don’t get picked for England again then I’m very proud of my record, 100 starts and 115 games. I’m very proud of that but I still believe I have a part to play. I take each day, week, month and year as it comes. Like I say, I never want to step down from playing for my country.”

Well, maybe in the last two years David’s been focusing more on his public profile than his soccer career but I do think it’s too early to cast him aside. What do you think?
