Courtney Cox in Avon’s Spotlight

New Scrubs and former Friends star Courtney Cox, 44, has been chosen the face of Avon’s new fragrance for women called Spotlight.

It (the scent) is not overpowering, and it’s feminine,” the actress said about the perfume set to launch in April. “I don’t like overpowering scents. I like when people have to get close to smell you. I knew that I loved Spotlight as soon as I smelled it. It’s just perfect – it’s floral, it’s citrus.”

Though Cox signed with the cosmetics brand back in December 2008 the official launch party was held last week. Courtney said there were several reasons why she agreed to work for Avon. She noted she liked the way the organization works, especially its charity program, and she liked the scent, so “it worked out perfectly. It was the perfect marriage.”

In their turn, Avon just wanted to capture the growing excitement of the world’s fascination with celebrity. The private desire to be in the public spotlight is a trend that is embodied in the fragrance’s tagline “Step Into It.”

Spotlight perfume is described as fresh oriental scent with citrus, sun-ripened fresh mandarin and Italian bergamot accents and the base notes of undertones of creamy cashmere sandalwood and white vanilla musk.
