While many of us already know about 50 Cent’s drug dealer past or Kim Kardashian’s sex tape past (the things both of them used to get even more public attention and popularity), there are certain things you don’t know about your favorite celebrities.

Funnywoman and TV personality Rosie O’Donnell used her memoir Celebrity Detox to reveal a shocking secret from her childhood. In her book she said that in her childhood she used to break her own hands and fingers with baseball bats to attract parents’ attention.

[I broke] my hands and fingers usually. No one knew. It was a secret,” Rosie O’Donnell wrote in her book adding that she did it because it was “proof I had some value, enough to be fixed.”

Horrendous.

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester was born in prison. Her mother was pregnant when she was sentenced for smuggling drugs. In her interviews Leighton often denied the fact of being born in prison saying she was born in hospital, not in prison. Before her mom was released from jail, Leighton had to live with her grandmother.

Tobey Mcguire, who is most well known for his portrait of Spider-Man, once confessed his farther once was a bank robber. Playing the super powerful guy fighting with bad guys in the street – that must have certainly brought memories from the past…

Some famous female celebrities have confessed they suffered from domestic violence and abuse as children. Like, for example, actress Anne Hache once confessed her farther sexually abused her.

It took her 24 years to confess but Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher was also abused when she was only 5. In 2002 Teri’s uncle was sentenced to jail.
