Barack Obama covers Vanity Fair
President Barack Obama covers special commemorative inaugural issue of Vanity Fair. The mag’s March issue is traditionally the “Hollywood Issue” but this year the mag bosses decided to ditch the tradition.
For the cover of our annual Hollywood Issue Vanity Fair decided to forgo the usual movie stars in favor of history – and a man who, when he was elected as the 44th president of the United States, arguably became more famous than anyone who’s ever graced our cover,” was written in Vanity Fair.
The cover reads “The Obama era begins!” and features Barack Obama’s photo taken by famous Vanity Fair photographer Annie Leibovitz. The photo is a reprint of Vanity Fair‘s Africa issue of July 2007, but we love it anyway!
The cover story is not only about the photo, it also features a large portfolio of Obama’s administration.
And it’s cool to see this photo. It’s Barack Obama in Vanity Fair‘s June 1990 issue when he was the first African-American to be elected president of the Harvard Law Review. History is like a spiral, isn’t it?
Vanity Fair‘s March 2009 issue hits newsstands today in LA and NY and nationally on Feb. 10th.
