Avril Lavigne makes $1 million on YouTube
Avril Lavigne is continuing along with her US tour. She performed at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday night on July 23.
The 23-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter now gets to enjoy a day off before hitting the stage in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Friday, followed by a gig in Hartford, Connecticut the next evening.
Meanwhile, Star magazine says that Miss Lavigne “dislikes her sharp, vampirelike front teeth so much that she’s getting them rounded off.”
“Avril hates her fangs,” the magazine’s source said, “She is planning on having them filed down by a cosmetic dentist. It’s just something she has always been insecure about, especially since everyone is staring at her mouth when she sings. As soon as Avril finds some time to take off so it won’t interfere with her singing, she’s getting it done!”
To be honest fangs kinda suit her. There is definitely some charm.
Otherwise ‘Skater Boy’ singer wouldn’t earn $1 million from people watching the video to her hit single ‘Girlfriend’ online. The promo has clocked over 100 million hits on video sharing site YouTube.com since it was posted on the internet by RCA record company executives last year – and Lavigne’s earnings have rocketed as a result. Every time the video is viewed, an advert is played and the singer receives a fee, plus the ads clicks.
UK’s Guardian writes:
We’re glad that someone’s figured out how to make some money in an era of all-free, all-digital music. We’re just not sure it ought to have been Avril Lavigne. Thanks to the forward-thinking strategies of her management, the singer has netted a cool £1m just from fans watching a music video on YouTube.”
Hey! Hey! You! You! “I don’t like your girlfriend” is stuck in my head now. Hm… I want to make a million.
