Talented Rachel Getting Married star Anne Hathaway is reportedly going to try her hand in singing for the Broadway musical Promises, Promises. According to the source, a closed reading of the play was held Sunday, starring Anne Hathaway and Sean Hayes (Will + Grace), whose performance “stunned the audience.”

The Broadway project is said to be produced by Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Craig Zadan and Neil Meron making it their Broadway producing debut after producing such hit movies like Chicago and Hairspray.

Promises, Promises originally opened 40 years ago, in 1968, and ran until 1972, for a total of 1,281 performances. It’s never been revived as a first class Broadway production since then.

In case you’re not sure Anne Hathaway is the right person to star in the project, check her Ella Enchanted performance of Queen’s ‘Somebody to love.’ I do think she’s brilliant. Do you agree?
