Will Michelle make a good Marilyn?
According to reports, Brokeback Mountain star Michelle Williams (II) is offered to play the part of Marilyn Monroe in the new movie that looks at what went on behind the scenes during the making of The Prince And The Showgirl (1957) with English actor and director Laurence Olivier.
While such Hollywood A-listers as Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams were considerd to play the part, it was Michelle who was personally approached by the movie’s director Simon Curtis and producer David Parfitt.
Before saying yes or no to the movie Williams said she had to “live” with Marilyn for a while before deciding. Regardless of her decision, the filming of My Week With Marilyn will start in June 2010.
She’s not going to be a Monroe lookalike,” a source said meaning she won’t do Marilyn’s impersonation in the movie, rather use her actor skills to show the late movie diva’s star power.
However, make up, retro designs and haircut will help accentuate the similarities.
My Week With Marilyn is based on a diary of Olivier’s third assistant director on The Prince And The Showgirl. The diary was published after the movie was finished but omitted things that happed within the particular seven days. The new movie will focus on the events of the missing week.
