Scarlett Johannson To Set Record With $20 Million for “Avengers” Sequel
It looks like a skintight cat suit is a good mean for Scarlett Johansson’s financial prosperity. The New York Post reported today that Scarlett Johansson has been offered a whopping $20 million to reprise her role as Black Widow from Iron Man 2 and this summer’s The Avengers. Scarlett plays sexy former Russian spy Natasha Romanoff, who is adept at eliciting information from enemy forces and wriggling out of dangerous situations.
Scarlett Johannson has been offered $20 million to reprise her role in the second Avengers.
That’s $1 million more than Angelina Jolie earned for The Tourist, the ill-received 2010 film that actually ended up bringing in $278 million worldwide, thanks to all those foreigners with bad taste. For some perspective, consider that Forbes ranked Kristen Stewart as last year’s highest-paid actress, but she earns about $12.5 million per film (Stewart made $34.5 million over 12 months). Cameron Diaz was second on this year’s Forbes list at $34 million, but acted in three movies for that sum.
Since its release on May 4, The Avengers has amassed $1.355 billion in global grosses, which easily pushes it past the $1.328 that the Harry Potter finale earned last summer. Only Avatar and Titanic rank above The Avengers on the all-time list. The James Cameron films earned $2.782 billion and $2.185 billion, respectively.
