Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II won’t be released on big screen!
It’s possible that Harry Potter‘s final installment, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II will not be released on July 15 as previously planned. National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) is set to boycott the screening of the movie if the film studios don’t give up on their Video-On-Demand plans.
Four film studios, Universal, Sony, Warner Bros and Fox, have decided to permit new movie releases go to Blu-Ray within weeks after their official theater release. NATO is strongly against this decision as it will definitely decrease their revenues. Film studios, in their turn, say that waiting for 16 weeks to release movies on Blu-Ray negatively influences DVD sales.
So now NATO is ready to boycott this summer’s big movie premieres to show how mad they are about the Video-On-Demand plan.
So all you HP fans’d better keep your fingers crossed the movie studios and NATO reach a consensus before July 15th, the day Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II is set to premiere in theatres.
UPDATE: NATO President has denied the reports (thank God!)
The National Association of Theatre Owners does not and could not encourage its members to engage in any boycotts of any movies distributed by any company. Recent press reports to the contrary are completely false,” ohn Fithian said.
