Golden Globes 2009: Will Heath Ledger win?

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association revealed the nominees for the Golden Globes 2009. The Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role In A Motion Picture category is the most curious one. Late Heath Ledger is nominated for the award for his outstanding work as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath’s performance in The Dark Knight. This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud that our boy’s work is being recognized in this way,” Heath’s farther said in the statement.
Right after the film was released everyone’s been buzzing about Ledger’s performance and his chances to win most prominent movie awards this year. Well, looks like he stands all chances to win… He deserves all the awards he’s and will be nominated for.

This is not the first posthumous nomination for Ledger. Earlier this year, there were rumors about Oscar nomination. Last week Ledger’s family accepted Australia’s most prestigious Film Institute international award for best actor. He’s also nominated for the People’s Choice Awards and has already received Best Fantasy Actor and Best Villain for his portrayal of the Joker at the Spike TV’s Scream Awards this October.

Do fellow actors believe late Heath Ledger could win a Golden Globe this year?
I’m sure he will [win],” actor Terrence Howard told Hollyscoop after he announced the nominees. “Even if someone else won in his category, if I had won in that category, I would give it to his family because he truly had the best performance. He gave more than I have seen any other actor give, he brought a new light,” he added.
