From Around The Web: Why Keira Knightley Drank So Much Vodka and Champagne?

Keira Knightley starred a sex-starved psychiatric woman who enjoys masochism in her latest movie A Dangerous Method. The 26-year-old admitted that she needed alcohol to give her courage before performing sex scenes on screen. Keira has told how she drank vodka before filming the hot scenes to shape up her confidence and then completed that shooting with champagne. She told Culture magazine:

We had one or two shots maximum. It was a vodka shot to calm our nerves and away you go really. Then we had champagne. We drank quite a lot of champagne, actually. The vodka and the champagne was a good combination.”

Keira is seen in a white leather belt and later topless in those erotic scene. Directed by David Cronenburg, A Dangerous Method tells the story of the relationship between psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud.

Viggo Mortensen portrayed Freud and Michael Fassbender played Jung. Knightley plays Sabina Spielrein’s role – the woman who is admitted to a psychiatric hospital suffering hysteria and to be treated by Carl Jung.

A Dangerous Method is based on John Kerr’s 1993 book A Most Dangerous Method:The Story of Jung, Freud and Sabina Spielrein and reveals the story of arch-nemesises Freud and Jung.

Speaking at the Venice Film Festival where A Dangerous Method premiered in the fall Keira said about the film:

I do a lot of period drama. I just love them. I love everything about them. I’m interested in history and its a privelege that (playing such roles) is part of my job.”

It’s obviouis that Keira is trying to move away from those light roles that made her well-known. In 2011 she starred in the adaptation of Lilian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour, which is about two women accused of having a lesbian affair in the the early 20th century and next year we are seeing her in Tom Stoppard’s adaptation of Anna Karenina.
