‘Bridget Jones 3′ Filming is Delayed Due to Script Issues

Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001) and Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason (2004) were so cool movies! I guess every girl from 16 to whatever age has found some similarities with Bridget, if not in appearance then in situations she had. And I know that most of viewers who saw the first two movies would be glad to watch the third one! And The Working Title movie, starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, was scheduled to begin shooting in the next few weeks under the direction of Peter Cattaneo. But several reliable sources close to the production said that script issues have caused the creative team —especially Grant— to ask that the movie be postponed.

One insider says:

It’s basically dead.”

However another source is not so hopeless saying:

The script problems will be worked out and the movie will definitely shoot sometime this year.”

Hugh Grant allegedly is the most displeased actor with the script, credited to David Nicholls and author Helen Fielding. Though it’s unclear if he left this huge project. Anyway, movie producers have decided not to go on until the issues are resolved.

Nevertheless, the cast is still on board to keep on starring our adorable characters in the film, in which Bridget hits her 40s an wants to have a baby. But if the producers wouldn’t hurry up with script debates, the delay could jeopardize their availability. Colin Firth, who has since become an Oscar winner for The King’s Speech, is an especially in-demand actor.

Bridget Jones’ Diary, an adaptation of the best-selling book by Helen Fielding, was a global success both financially and critically when it was released in 2001 (gained $282 million worldwide). Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, released in 2004, didn’t fare as well critically but made $262 million worldwide, the majority of that internationally.

Oh, producers, please, make everything up and give us opportunity to meet funny Bridget once again! I love her so much!
