A new summer month and a new bunch of movie premiers to keep you returning to the nearest movie theatre over and over again. So that’s what you just can’t miss on the first day of August.

He’s already defeated the mummy… twice. Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) is back in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor to check out how Chinese guys are doing over there. In the new sequel flick Fraser has to combat the resurrected Han Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas.

Rick O’Connell is joined by son Alex (Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). This time, it’s a 2,000-year-old curse to awake a mummy. The Dragon Emperor mummy will rouse his legion to quest for world domination, unless the O’Connells stop him first.

And as opposite to blockbusting nature of the Mummy, the Brideshead Revisited tells us a story of British decadence between the World Wars showing a young man (Matthew Goode, Match Point) fascinated with the wealthy Marchmain family, especially Sebastian (Ben Whishaw, Perfume) and his sophisticated sister, Julia (Hayley Atwell).

The film is based on the Evelyn Waugh novel about memoirs of Captain Charles Ryder who is stationed at Brideshead Castle. What I like about the movie is that Emma Thompson co-stars as Lady Marchmain.

In case you love movies about high school proms and douches who try to get popular and successful watch The Rocker with The Office star Rainn Wilson as an adult rock drummer who never had his shot of fame, but who finally gets his chance at the big time with his nephew’s band.

Swing Vote is something we should watch before the Election Day. Kevin Costner (The Bodyguard) is the lovable apathetic loser whose 12-year-old daughter sets off a chain of events that puts the entire responsibility for the presidential election in her dad’s hands.

Suddenly, Bud Johnson, the nobody, becomes the voice for everybody when the world realizes that his vote will be the one that elects the next president.

Is America obsessed with beauty? Darryl Roberts, the director of this documentary that opens Friday in NY and will hit LA on August 22, is wondering what people have to go through to fit in the modern standards of beauty and survive in the cruel world of catwalk shows and multiple cosmetic ads imposing lifestyle and priorities.

America The Beatiful tells the story of Gerren Taylor, one of America’s next top supermodels and stars Gerren Taylor, Paris Hilton, Julianne Moore, Anthony Kiedis, Jessica Simpson. It’s like a mirror to the American psyche to show that the same beauty that could jump-start a model’s career could ultimately destroy her young life.

PETA has gone too far in saying Jess is cruel for eating meat. Of course killing anything isn’t pretty, but it is natural for humans to eat other living things. Yes, it is disgusting to hurt newborn chicks, but it is natural selection.

The reason for attacking Jess was her being caught in a ‘controversial shirt’ that says “REAL GIRLS EAT MEAT”. This shirt is more a message to anorexic girls which are the real problem.

Sure, Jessica is famous for being stupid with her ‘less-than-stellar brains’ (tuna - chicken of the sea), well Christine Dore from PETA is not any more logical. The only privelege the girl from PETA has is that she’s more or less educated, but young lady is very naive. How old is she? 16? So we’re talking ‘dumb and dumber’.

Here is what PETA uses to convert others into vegetarianism. I respect PETA for trying to stop celebrities wear fur but this time their arguments are valid (some of them), but very pathetic at the same time.

1. Meat increases the risk of breast cancer. A 2007 study of 35,000 women published in the British Journal of Cancer found that women who ate meat were far more likely to develop breast cancer than women who consumed none. Will Jessica’s next t-shirt will say, “Real Girls Smoke 3 Packs a Day”?

2. Real girls don’t support animal abuse. Compassion is super sexy, if the huge number of hot celebs ditching meat is any indication. Young women turn vegetarian in droves when they learn that the meat industry cuts the sensitive beaks off newborn chicks and cuts off the tails of baby piglets.

3. The meat industry is destroying the Earth. The only thing that’s hot about the meat industry is that it’s toasting the planet. According to the United Nations, raising animals for food causes more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, planes, and ships in the world combined.

4. Meat will make you fat. All the saturated fat and cholesterol in chicken wings, pork chops, and steak eventually leads to flabby thighs and love handles. I hope the upcoming “Jessica Simpson’s Intimates” line comes in plus sizes! Going vegetarian is the best way to get slim and stay that way.

5. Eating meat steals food from starving kids. Jessica’s trip to help kids in Africa got a lot of media buzz, but by gnawing on meat, she’s essentially stealing food from the mouths of starving children since it takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of meat. If more people went vegetarian, we’d free up enough grain to feed every person in the world.”

You know what you guys should fight against? Guns. Not food. Get yourselves busy getting rid of the gun culture instead.

And it’s finally happened! People have been gushing about it for long but now it’s already a matter of fact – Ashlee Simpson, 23, and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 28, tied the knot on Saturday.

The ceremony was held at the Simpson compound in Encino, CA. It was the Alice in Wonderland themed reception for some 150 guests. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Jessica Simpson (maid of honor) and her on-off Dallas Cowboys quarterback boyfriend Tony Romo, actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb, and Wentz’s English bulldog Hemingway (it was the ring-bearer) were among the guests.

Ashlee’s dad Joe Simpson performed a non-denominational ceremony for his four-month pregnant daughter.

According to the source, it was a rock style ceremony: black rugs, white couches with red pillows, black chandeliers and lots of red roses; and guests were requested to wear dark colors, such as blue, black or grey (creepy!).

With the help of a wedding planner, Simpson got her dream nuptials: the wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings had a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top (remember the Alice in Wonderland theme?). Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay, according to People.

The couple got engaged in early April due to Simpson’s pregnancy. Simpson and Wentz started darting in late 2006.

Well, best wishes for the happy couple. I have to say two more are off the market. Who’s next?

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz will sell their wedding pictures to People magazine for $ 1 million. Yeah, I would sell mine too.

I was shoe shopping yesterday and caught myself at thinking shoes were more than just footwear for me. Shoes are part of my personality, meaning I choose this or that style depending on what I feel like this or that day.

I can be a bitchy vixen one day and pick some peep toe high heels or pointy shoes, or I can feel like a little girl and pick flats or t-straps, or strappy sandals for a walk round the town. So what mood are you in now?

One must always know what kinds of shoes are the in things now. Just four words: bright colors and patent leather. All top trend things suit these requirements this summer. In women’s shoes, the style of the season is still the platform, but slingbacks and wedges are on their way back to our closet shelves.

I wonder if there’s a girl who doesn’t like bright colors, even if talking about shoes. Brights look very refreshing and light-minded. Women need some light-minded stuff, especially in summer. So be ready to welcome orange, yellow, pink, citrus green, blue, and red sling backs, cup-toes, flats and wedges. In fact, every color of the rainbow is well represented this season.

Brights will work with denim, whites, blacks, light neutrals, or any print that has the same color in it. But if you’re still seriously color-shy, you’d better avoid this trend, as Desiree Stimpert and other shoe experts say.

Slingback shoes are always popular with girls and they always look great – let it be a party with friends or a glam event or red carpet posturing.

Sexy and easy to wear, sling-backs are a natural match for skirts and dresses.

Wedge shoes are back! Wedge heels make you look cute. Don’t you love them?

Another new thing about footwear this summer is hole-ridden shoes. They’re as lovely and cute as all cut-out uppers. Jessica Simpson “Hask” shoes won’t bore you this summer. Just be hot, girl!

High heels, chunky heels, wooden heels – this season is definitely about the extreme heel. I wonder if it’s about “Gwyneth effect”. Remember her sky-high heels on the Iron Man promotion tour?

Platform shoes are still hot this year, so hey don’t throw away your last season shoes they’re still in!

Floral and geometric prints like circles, squares and other patterns are big print trends this season. But when choosing them to wear be sure to make the rest of your outfit pretty simple not to look ridiculous. But generally, print shoes are an easy way to add interest and SATC glamour to your look.

Metallic shoes are another must-have trend. Natural metallics like silver and gold can be found in many collections this summer, I prefer Gucci metallic shoes.

Yes, it’s true! Ashlee Simpson, 23, and her rocker boyfriend, Pete Wentz, 28, are tying the knot, Usmagazine.com has reported.

“Yes, they are happily engaged. They will be getting married before the end of the year,” Simpson’s rep confirmed.

We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged,”
