State of Play starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren

That’s what I love about Fridays. New movies premiere every week, isn’t it great? Well though some flicks aren’t that good as they could be, some are totally fantastic.

This is one of the latter. State of Play is your best pick if you’re a fan of conspiracy plots, and sure are a dirty business. This breath-catching blistering thriller stars Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, , Robin Wright Penn, Jason Bateman and Helen Mirren and tells about a rising congressman and an investigative journalist involved in a case of seemingly unrelated, brutal murders.

Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren star in State of Play

I’m a big fan of Russell Crowe, even if he’s put on some pounds, he’s still a fantastic actor. Earlier there was a rumor the film was to star Brad Pitt as the journalist and as the congressman, it never happened but the film is still good enough to spend your Friday night on.

Global warming, limited natural resources, pollution, how often do we hear that we should stop for a second and think about future generations, which are actually in a risk of living in a deserted land and not even knowing what a green tree might look like. I always picture some horrible Ray Bradbury-style scenario when thinking about environmental issues, do you?

But when you’re a celeb, you have a great opportunity to be actually heard when you try to say something important, something that matters. Role-modeling is a truly positive thing. So, here’s the list of eco-friendly celebs. Pick your fave role-model!

10. Will Ferrell

He’s an active supporter of the Natural Resources Defense Council, he drives an electric car and is turning his house into truly eco-friendly one. He’s also made an eco-comedy special for TBS, Earth to America!

9.Johnny Depp

In 2005 Pirates of the Caribbean star converted his Bahamas island home to run on solar hydrogen technology.

8. Orlando Bloom

He’s built an environmentally-friendly house in London. “It’s as green as I can make it. It’s got solar panels on the roof, energy-efficient light bulbs – newer technology basically that is environmentally friendly.”

7. Edward Norton

Norton launched BP’s Solar Neighbors Program, which gets solar panels onto low-income homes in L.A., and he hosted a four-part National Geographic TV special about the negative and dustructive effects of global environmental problems.

6. Gisele Bundchen

The world’s richest supermodel is launching her plastic sandals collection Ipanema 2009 for the SOS Mata Atlantica, the program patronizing the gallery forest, the vegetation circumscribe rivers and streams, and still water. Each Ipanema plastic sandal sold will help plating 25,500 youth from 100 different species.

5. Daryl Hannah

Hannah is so hard-core green that she was arrested last year for staging a 23-day tree-sit in a bid to save L.A.’s South Central Farm. Her house operates entirely off the grid, she drives a biodiesel car, promotes eco-friendly attitude online and even has a couch made of mossy stone that she has to water to keep it alive.

4.

The star drives a hybrid car, has made an eco-themed MTV show, and got trained to give Al Gore’s climate presentation.

3. Phil Rosenthal

Everybody Loves Raymond producer Phil Rosenthal made sure that though his house isn’t off the grid, it’s eco-friendly cool, with recycled cork floors, denim insulation and a waterless urinal. Rosenthal has reportedly recycled the Everybody Loves Raymond ’s set furniture to turn it into kitchen table seats in his guesthouse.

2. Robert Redford

Mr. Redford promotes using solar energy, has campaigned for Utah wilderness, and is highly concerned about climatic change and tries his best to deal with it at city level. He also spreads eco-awareness on his channel. Besides, he’s been on the board of the Natural Resources Defense Council for the last 30 years.

1.

Driving a hybrid Toyota Prius, Leo always keeps ecology in mind. In 1998, he started the Foundation to promote environmental causes. He’s constructed an eco-friendly house in London and has been working on 11th Hour, a global-warming documentary featuring interviews with global green leaders.

Drama, musical, documentary, horror movie… you have a wide range of films to choose from this Friday movie night.

Let’s begin with something light and romantic. Long-awaited High School Musical 3: Senior Year brings you Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and back along with 10 new original songs, talented dance performances and sweetie-pretty romance. Being a fan, you’ll surely enjoy watching the young stars’ senior year experience and will keep your fingers crossed during a basketball championship, prom and a spring musical featuring all of the Wildcats. There’s one thing I can say for sure, these guys are definitely talented artists.

Do you love as much as I love him? If yes, then go get your seat in the first row to watch Pride And Glory with Farrell alongside Edward Norton and in a NY cop family drama. Norton and Farrell play brothers when one of them must investigate his own family as he tries to solve the difficult case of cop homicide. There’s basically nothing brand new about the film concept but if you do like the leading stars or cop movies, you might like it.

Keith Haring was a talented artist, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, actually. His works ranging from paintings to sculpture to subway murals affected ’80s New York art community becoming an important piece of NY history. He died of AIDS but remained inspiringly revolutionary and generous till his last breath.

The Universe of Keith Haring is a documentary exploring the artist’s background and career. The film features interviews and archival footage of Grace Jones, , Yoko Ono, and others, as well as Keith’s audio interviews.

By the way, if you’re big horror movie fan, then you shouldn’t miss Saw V that also opens today. Guess, no need to explain the film plot, right?

It’s less than ten days left till summer officially begins, so does the new movie season. You should forget about beach fun and sunbathing and better focus on movie premieres. And surely there’re all kinds of flicks you can enjoy this summer. As some experts say, this is the season for action and movie budgets greater than the gross national product of small island nations.

Love it or hate it, but this is my June movie billboard:

June 6

Dreamworks releases animated Kung Fu Panda featuring the voices of Jack Black, , and . The cartoon is about martial arts and the creatures who inspire those particular styles of martial arts like “crouching tiger.” This cartoon is said to be perfect for family viewing. Sure your kids will love it. At least, said she did this movie just because of her kids.

You Don’t Mess With the Zohan starring will compete with the Panda to win your movie choice this day. The comedy tells about an Israeli commando who fakes his own death to become a hairdresser in New York City.

Also on June, 6th enjoy in Stuck, a story about the drunk driver who hits a homeless man () and leaves him bleeding, in her windshield rather than risk arrest for the accident. This darkly comic thriller is based on a real case. Don’t drink when drive.

It’s not often that we watch Russian films in cinema. Russian director Sergei Bodrov’s (Nomad) Mongol is Genghis Khan bio-pic telling us about his early life as a slave before going on to conquer half the world including Russia in 1206.

June 13

The Happening is a social-environmental meltdown thriller featuring Mark Walberg as a high school science teacher Elliot Moore who along with other people begins encountering breakdowns in human behavior in major American cities. Moore discovers the true nature of the breakdowns, it’s a mysterious virus sweeping the planet and making people kill themselves.

The Promotion brings us Seann William Scott back. He’s accompanied by John C. Reilly to show us two assistant managers of a corporate grocery store vie for a coveted promotion.

You wanted, you got it. The Incredible Hulk will be released June, 13. Edward Norton takes on the green man with Tim Roth as his nemesis, The Abomination, in this latest digitally-improved Hulk incarnation. According to the source, this flick promises “more action than the last Hulk movie and a less convoluted backstory about the big green guy’s origins”.

June 20

No summer without a remake. In the all-new action comedy Get Smart remake of the 1960s TV series, Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to trawl the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. As Smart and agent 99 () have little field experience and even less time, they’re armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and Smart’s unbridled enthusiasm to defeat KAOS.

, , and Justin Timberlake star in The Love Guru, a fresh summer flick. Pitka () is an American who was raised by gurus. He moves back to the US to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality.

June 27

The creators of Finding Nemo present Wall-E, a story about the last robot on earth, that is tasked with cleaning up the planet after humanity has trashed and abandoned it. So it gets lonely and looks for its people.

And, finally, Wanted. The long anticipated starring flick is based on the Mark Millar/J.G. Jones graphic novels and helmed by stunning Kazakh visualist director Timur Bekmambetov — creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series.

Wanted tells tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. This thriller stars James McAvoy as a new recruit to the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins that includes and .

While it’s still May don’t forget to go to the movie on May, 30th and watch Sex And The City. Guess, no additional introduction necessary.

In case you don’t like romantic or sweety-pretty stuff, enjoy The Strangers, a horror film with Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman about a couple terrorized by three masked assailants. In theatres on May, 30th.

Cause I personally hate this feeling, like being hanged in the air like being controlled from outside and unable to do my thing. Generally, who the hell was the first to come up with the idea of control? And the more important question, why do we need it? If I wanna do something I'll do it anyway and either way, and if I do it breaking some rules, escaping the CONTROL, then the feeling would just get better and the victory would just feel sweeter. So why do we need control and sort of submission it takes a long. What sort of bdsm pleasure is that supposed to give?

  • Stirring things up!

  • Did you ever provoke a fight with your guy? You love getting on his nerves because that makes him so obscure and funny – “cute” so we say. No, you’re not sadistic. Just the fact that after the make up, it feels so sweet to be the conqueror- to have the feeling of power! To feel the situation is under your control - to cause a fight and then to stop it. Isn’t it just so dramatically sweet to push the edges once in a while?

I love pushing his triggers. Some may think I’m an evil witch, but I’m simply making our relationship tempered, exciting, resolute, pert.

If you intentionally get into a fight with him – you are not sick in a head (and no, you’re not just a bitch). Scientists say that a healthy relationship is a relationship where there are arguments, and any argument needs a solution, right? That takes out our negative energy and brings us closer.

  • Breaking Rules

  • No matter how obvious it sounds most of the rules have been created long before us. By rules I mean systematized experience of previous generations, like handshakes and etiquette, and things like going for a social smoke. There is a rule that ladies go in first into any door except the elevator.

But rules are a need for the sense of stability around one. Society needs rules to forecast the effect of a cause, to have at least some confidence of the future. And this is what disappoints people. This is when they lose their confidence because things appear not the way they expected them to be. Those who were really dependent on expectations suffer from facing the world that is unpredictable, that the rules they believed in didn’t work at some turning point.

So they say that only fools learn through their own mistakes. Don’t you remember your mom telling you not to stick your tong out and put it against the metallic balcony railing when it’s freezing cold outside? Why did I skip my SPSS class with that macho from senior class? All of my friends were telling me he was a player and had nothing else in his head except for getting laid. Why do we learn things only after we go through them? This is what humans are like.

  • Sex Agenda

  • Inspired by “fuck” conversation last Saturday, which is a very delicate subject.

All of us, living in a fast growing temper of big cities are busy. We go to work, go to college full time, or have kids to take care of. There are plenty of things to do. When crazy week days are over we have yoga or tango classes, and shopping to do aside the chorus, french classes and getting a good sleep.

When is there time for sex?

The right answer would be - there is always time for sex. But the stress and busyness lead some couples to pencil their intimacy. It is logical, simple and hot to know that your schedule after works has a mark “Ryan 8 pm”. It is exciting to feel the anticipation, but on the other hand do we feel it is comfortable to set up our special moments with an important person for us on a basis of a scheduled task? It seems awkward to plan it, it is out of style, especially for femme-fatale like me, but even when sex is spontaneous, in every woman's head it is always planned. (wink!)
