Caster Semenya is in the center of gender scandal

Juicy sports scandal is served.

The whole world of athletics is buzzing about the latest World Athletics Championships gender scandal. I can’t miss it either.

So, 18 year-old Caster Semenya from South African won gold in the women’s 800 meters with stunning 1 minute and 55.45 seconds.

As soon as her victory was confirmed, a number of experts from The International Association of Athletics Federations questioned the girl’s gender as her victory was a big surprise for everyone who saw her cross the line several yards ahead of other competitors.

Now the winner has to undergo a set of gender tests to determine her real gender and see if the victory was fair. If Caster does prove to be a man, she’ll lose her medal.

In my opinion, Caster does look too masculine for a girl – I’ve never seen a girl with such biceps and such six-pack! On the other hand, many female athletes do have very masculine features and it’s ok, so why question her sex?

Semenya has become the center of global media attention with basically everyone having their opinion on the case.

Caster’s parents, friends and coaches claim she’s a girl and has always been a girl.

I know who and what my child is. Caster is all girl, and no one can change that,” the athlete’s mother said.

However, Caster’s former school headmaster claimed he only realized she was a girl when she was 15, before that he always considered her a boy for being rough, always playing with the boys and never wearing skirts.

Caster’s best friend who stated the girl was, well, a girl added though that Caster “never had a boyfriend. She doesn’t like boys.”

Anyways, Semenya will have to take gender tests and the results will be revealed in the coming weeks. Caster will meet with a group of doctors, including an endocrinologist, a gynecologist, an internal medicine expert, an expert on gender and a psychologist.

What is pretty shitty about the scandal is that some South Africans try to find some racist reasons for the inquiry, which is not the case.

Mr Davies from the IAAF said it had not been suggested that Semenya was a man who had cheated by concealing his true sex, but that she could suffer from a genetic disorder which means she has both male and female chromosomes.
