Jason Statham is Next Celeb to Slam Kim Kardashian
Jon Hamm and Daniel Craig have already hauled her her over the coals. Now another Hollywood giant has slagged off reality star Kim Kardashian. Jason Statham has, perhaps stating the obvious, labelled her nothing more than a ‘brand’. When asked in an interview with Details magazine if he thought of himself as a brand, the 44-year-old said:
F*** no. Why should I?”
He was then told:
People see a guaranteed $30million a film as a brand in need of management”.
Jason Statham labelled Kim Kardashian a brand.”
Mad Men star Jon Hamm recently labelled the star a ‘F***ing idiot’. He told April’s Elle UK magazine:
Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f***ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”
Kim responded at him calling his comments ‘careless’ earlier this month. But during an appearance on The Today Show this week, 41-year-old Hamm firmly stood by his remarks. When asked about the matter by host Matt Lauer, Hamm responded:
I don’t think [my comments] were careless. I think they were accurate.”
He pulled no punches as he made another attack on the culture of reality television saying:
It’s a part of our culture that I certainly don’t identify with, and I don’t really understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car crash sensibility. And it’s not something that I partake in or enjoy, but it is what is and here we are. Our society enjoys to turn on the television and see someone who’s maybe awful and they can say, “Well at least I’m not as terrible as that person. There are a lot of channels on the dials and those channels need to be filled up with things… It’s different strokes for different folks.”
And James Bond star Daniel Craig spoke on the media circus surrounding Kim’s divorce from estranged husband Kris Humphries just 72 days after their televised wedding. He told GQ:
You see that and you think, “What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions? I’m not judging it. Well, I am, obviously.”
Also actor Jonah Hill lashed out at Kim and her family last year. Hill said that while he often finds himself watching one of their shows, he finds it ‘disgusting’ that they earn better ratings than higher quality scripted shows. The 27-year-old said The Huffington Post:
The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on – writing and creating and trying to tell stories. The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting. It’s a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it. Whenever I say I like reality TV, people write about it like they’re in shock. I can’t even understand it, so I watch it. I think it’s funny and I definitely enjoy it in a making-fun-of-it sort of way, but where does the line sort of end? When do I stop making fun of it and become an actual fan? The Kardashians are as famous as our president. What does that tell you about how skewed our society is?”
