Jennifer Lopez filed lawsuit for $30 million

If you produce goods and think of a very smart way to promote your stuff by illegally using some well known celebrity face for advertisement, read this post twice as carefully.

Your favorite Jenny from the block and now mother of two adorable 1 yo twins, Jennifer Lopez, and her entertainer hubby Marc Anthony filed a $30 million lawsuit against the United Kingdom-based Silver Cross company producing baby strollers for illegally using their names and pictures in advertising.

The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday in a California District Court with Lopez and Anthony claiming that the company “knowingly and intentionally misappropriated and used the names, images, likenesses and photographs” to sell their high-end baby carriages.

The suit claims that Silver Cross has illegally used a photo of the couple pushing their twins in two of the company’s carriages on its Web site and in “various print and electronic media and newsletters,” thus deceiving “the public into believing that Lopez and Anthony endorse and sponsor” Silver Cross products.

Generally, the couple’s lawyers listed eight complaints in the suit, including violation of civil code, false designation of origin, copyright infringement, misappropriation of the common law right of publicity, dilution of common law trademark, unjust enrichment, accounting, preliminary and permanent injunction.

Sounds like a lot of money…

Jennifer and Marc want over $5 million in damages on six of the eight claims and also ask for attorneys’fees and profits associated with the sale of the strollers, totaling in something $30 million.

If J Lo does win the case [and I have a strong feeling she stands all chances to do so] she and her hubby will get a way richer than they already are.

She’s got business grip, I always knew that.
