Susan Boyle – fastest selling debut album ever
This is definitely a miraculous year for the 48 year old spinster from Scotland – from nobody to the best selling new artist of the year.
Susan Boyle has made history with the fastest-selling worldwide debut album for a female artist with some million copies sold in just the first week of release. Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream was released November 23, 2009.
Britain’s Got Talent runner-up has also become UK’s fastest selling debut.
Ms. Boyle named her debut record after the song from Les Miserables she sang at Britain’s Got Talent audition in April this year. She came second in the show’s finale in May but has become the world’s most unusual music sensation ever since. Her album toped Amazon’s bestsellers list three months before the release becoming the most anticipated record of the year.
UPDATE:Susan Boyle was #1 on the Billboard charts the first week of December selling 701,000 copies of the debut albums. Boyle now holds the record this year for the the biggest first-week sales of any album and the largest ever sales debut for a female artist.
Go, Susan! The world loves you!
