Lady GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’ is banned in Malaysia
Lady GaGa’s hit song ‘Born This Way’ is banned in Malaysia and can’t be played on the radio in full, Malaysia’s AMP Radio Networks reported.
Malaysian radios can’t play the song that features such lyrics as “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track, baby” because the issue is still considered a taboo by most of Malaysians and, thus, the song can be viewed as offensive.
The particular lyrics in ‘Born This Way’ may be considered as offensive when viewed against Malaysia’s social and religious observances,” AMP Radio Networks explained.
While Lady GaGa, the new Style Icon according to Council of Fashion Designers of America, has not yet commented on the ban, Malaysain gay activists are enraged at the discrimination.
Lady GaGa was attempting to address this very thing in her song. How dare they play that song and cut out its shining heart. We just want the same thing as everyone else: to love, be loved and have our songs played on the radio,” one of the activists said.
Other news from GaGa-land, Mother Monster has become the first artist in Gold & Platinum history to sell over 20 million digital singles. Congrats GaGa!
