With films like Atonement and Pride and Prejudice on her resume, she’s all that for period pieces.
She looked amazing at the New York City’s Public Theatre for the premiere of her latest historical film The Duchess.
Keira looked stunningly elegant on the red carpet in black Chanel Haute Couture dress (of course, Chanel) with leaf accents.

In the movie Keira Knightley plays a young, privileged and public persona in her new film The Duchess, but the actress would like to make one thing perfectly clear: She’s nothing at all like Georgiana Spencer, a 17-year-old who married the Duke of Devonshire and found herself in an elite and powerful world awash in nasty gossip, political rumour and romantic voyeurism.
Here is what Keira says on her heroine:
I’d never heard of her before. I thought she was fabulous, you know. I thought she was a fascinating character: the idea of this woman who’s so politically influential and is such a fashion icon and such a force of nature and yet privately, is somebody who’s so intensely vulnerable and incredibly lonely.”

The Duchess is ancestry to Princess Diane. In some ways their destinies are alike. Keira says:
I thought celebrity culture was a modern phenomenon and I was fascinated to find out it was around 300 years old.
I (still) think it’s the least interesting aspect of the story . . . I thought the way she used it, and the manipulation of image, I thought that was very interesting. As the marriage was collapsing (Georgiana) needed more attention from complete strangers . . . and I found that fascinating.”
